Administration Officer – ASlt K. AuCoin
I started Sea cadets at the age of 12 with RCSCC Admiral Nelles. As a cadet with this unit, I rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer 1st Class as the Regulating Petty Officer of our unit.
Over the years as a cadet, I was a member of the Sail team, Drill team, First Aid Team and Seamanship team. I attended HMCS Ontario for General Training then Sail Trade groups I, II, and III. I returned to HMCS Ontario as a Boatshed Staff Cadet.
The knowledge gained through these experiences has allowed me to continue to utilise my skills and become a Civilian Instructor, with the full intention of becoming a member of the CIC.
Some of my favourite memories in the cadet program were traveling across Canada, sailing in some amazing places and the ability to create lifelong friendships with members across Canada.
I am thankful to the cadet program for life skills in leadership, teaching and problem solving that I use in my everyday life. Also if it was not for the cadet program I would not have been able to see how amazing our country really is.
Currently I work as the Administration Officer. In my role I am responsible for maintaining ships records, correspondence within and outside of the unit, enrollment of new cadets etc.
